Die Arbeitsgemeinschaft soll Mitgliedern der Essener Arbeitsgruppen im Bereich der Zahlentheorie und algebraischen Geometrie, und gelegentlich auswärtigen Gästen, Gelegenheit geben, Ihre eigene Arbeit vorzustellen.

Dabei dürfen gerne auch Projekte vorgestellt werden, die noch im Fluss sind, so dass der Sprecher vom Feedback der Teilnehmer profitieren kann. Dem Sprecher stehen in der Regel zwei oder drei Sitzungen zur Verfügung, so dass die Möglichkeit besteht, auch ins Detail zu gehen.
